The Alice Ferguson Foundation needed live wildlife monitoring and connectivity on a wetland boardwalk at Piscataway Park, Maryland: no power for miles, no cell coverage worth the name, and ground that must not be disturbed.

In July 2026, the National Park Foundation's inaugural Innovation Grants funded the Alice Ferguson Foundation to deploy Sentinel systems across Piscataway Park for off-grid monitoring, visitor safety, public engagement, and connectivity. The units mount to existing boardwalk posts in a single visit; solar carries the load, the camera streams around the clock, and the on-unit AI logs the species it hears and sees.
